FURSAFE Weekly Health Assessment and Veterinary Jotter

The Fursafe® Weekly Health Assessment and Veterinary Jotter is a health surveillance tool to help you in the monitoring of your pet’s health; respond to abnormal findings as they arise; and to mitigate the risk of a life-threatening condition.
This assessment tool has been designed with the following uses in mind:
for your pet sitter to monitor and report your dog’s condition whilst you are away
after a Groom - to ensure there are no injuries
after a stay at a Boarding Kennel - to ensure your dog is in good health
when your dog appears unwell or out of sorts
weekly health surveillance as good health practice
when your dog sustains an injury in daily life; or
to monitor declining or improving medical condition
If you walk into the room where your dog is and you think to yourself that he/she does not appear their usual self, ‘he’ seems unwell or out of sorts; what should you do?
Use this health assessment to work your way down the entire body of your dog, starting at the nose and finish at the tail, carefully inspect every part and record what stands out to you.
Maybe you notice:
Swelling
Redness
Discoloration of the gums, for example bright red, grey or blue
Deformity of a limb
Diarrhea
Blood in their stool or what looks like coffee grounds
Urinary incontinence
Ticks
Lacerations
Puncture wounds
Lumps
Pain or discomfort
Using the checklist, tick normal or abnormal; with the abnormal finding, document exactly what you see, feel, hear or smell in the designated section of the template. Once completed, call your Vet to get their advice and if your Vet recommends it, make an appointment.
